Graduate students honored at ASABE international conference

Students accept awardRui Xu and Yu Jiang, graduate students in the University of Georgia College of Engineering, won three major awards at the recent international meeting of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in New Orleans.

Xu, a first year Ph.D. student, won second place in the Boyd-Scott Graduate Research Award (MS category) for research based on his MS research thesis, “Development of the Second Generation Berry Impact Recording Device to Detect Mechanical Damage on Berry Fruit Packing Lines.”

Jiang won two awards from the Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural Biological Food Engineers (AOC): third place in both the Student Paper Competition and the Student Proposal Competition.

Xu and Jiang work with Charlie Li, an associate professor in the UGA College of Engineering, in his Bio-Sensing and Instrumentation Laboratory.
