Fall 2020: Welcome from Dean Leo

Driftmier buildingDear Engineering Students,

On behalf of the college I wanted to welcome you back to campus and tell you that we are looking forward to the start of classes this Thursday.  You have received many communications from the university and our college over the past several days and weeks, but I wanted to send a short message emphasizing some final, important points, as we prepare for the start of classes.

Face Covering Policy / Health and Safety

Please review the university face covering policy at https://coronavirus.uga.edu/resources/face-coverings/ and help us start the semester strong by complying with this critical health and safety policy.  Please also review https://coronavirus.uga.edu/information-for/students/ for guidelines for the Fall semester and important information on health and safety.

Course Information and Syllabi

Please visit athena.uga.edu to see the latest information on course scheduling and classroom assignments.  There have been a number of changes to the location of classes over the past week so I encourage you to review the most up to date information on the schedule.

Our faculty have uploaded their syllabi to their courses to eLC and you are strongly encouraged to visit the eLC site for each of your courses to obtain updated information.   The vast majority of our faculty have confirmed that their courses are now open and you can go there for information on the teaching modality for the first day of class.

Welcome Week

To help you prepare for the start of the semester, the college is hosting a series of Welcome Week events starting this Thursday, August 20.  All undergraduate students and graduate students are encouraged to participate.  These events will give you important information on advising, student programs, and all of the virtual professional development events that will occur this semester.  Details were provided in an email to you from Amber Juncker in our Office of Student Success.  Additional information will be sent on a daily basis.

We look forward to seeing you later this week.

Regards,

Donald J. Leo, Ph.D.
