BS Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Electrical and Electronics engineering is a modern field of engineering involving the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism in areas such as power and control systems, telecommunications, and digital signal processing. In this degree program students will learn about the role electrical engineering plays in today’s society and gain fundamental and applied understanding of electrical engineering as a discipline that integrates math, science, and technology while benefiting from a liberal arts education and developing soft skills that will prepare them to be successful in the major and their careers.

Mission

The program will graduate students ready for successful careers as practicing Electrical Engineers and as academics. Since Electrical Engineering is a broad engineering discipline, a graduate in this program will have wide flexibility for career options. Our graduates will also leave school with a solid understanding of the underlying physical and scientific principles of electricity and an ability to translate abstract concepts and ideas into practical solutions (e.g., circuits, control systems). Moreover, our graduates will have had exposure to a broad range of topics, such as micro- and nanoelectronics, communication and wireless systems, sensors, controls and power systems

Program Educational Objectives

The University of Georgia’s BSEE Program Educational Objectives prepare graduates who, after five years of their professional career, have:

  • Established themselves in positions of management and leadership in their profession and their community.
  • Achieved a high level of expertise to design solutions to solve today’s problems.
  • Developed an awareness of safety and security constraints as well as ethical responsibility.
  • Continued their education through professional licensure, certification or pursuit of a graduate degree.
